Stephen J. Kristof - Author and Columnist
This is where you can find some of Stephen's past articles, editorials and columns.  Selected current articles may also be linked from or posted on this home page.  Check back often, as you may also get a sneak-peek at some of his pre-published writing.

Why are there two different logos for his writing?  His writing endeavors represent two distinct styles for publishers and readers.  As a columinst writing social opinion and political commentary pieces, his style is pointed and full of common sense.  Forget about political correctness; this is more about social honesty.  As the website name suggests, "the more things change...the more they stay the same."  History has a way of repeating itself, but we often don't recognize it because it looks a little different.

He is also the author of the popular and very funny "Go Figure with Steve Kristof"©  series of humorous lifestyle columns.  These light-hearted articles take aim at the lighter side of life and the daily ironies to which we can all relate.  Seen through the right glasses, life's common frustrations can be downright hilarious!

© series of lifestyle and humor columns.

Ever hear the cliche, "You Are What You Eat"?
Well, check-out Steve's newest column tited "You Are How You Drive".  Very funny stuff indeed and something that's happened to all of us!

Here's an excerpt from this new column:
"...I’m leaving the customary three car lengths in front of my car, which at that speed is just enough distance to avoid a collision should the driver in front of me come to a dead stop.

I do a side check to my left and during that two-second hiatus, wouldn’t you know it, some impatient guy makes a right-hand turn from a side street and manages to squeeze ever-so-tightly into that space between my car and what used to be the next one.  Of course, his car isn’t traveling at the same rate of speed, which forces me to slam on the breaks or risk crashing into his jalopy, which would make me responsible for the accident.  Great..."

"PROTECTING US FROM OURSELVES"
Happy New Year!  Then again...
As we welcomed 2010, many governments at various levels ushered-in multiple thousands of new laws across North America.  More and more laws restrict and regulate our personal activities, leading to less individual liberty.  This article explores why it's happening and why we're so eager to accept it.

Here is an excerpt from this very timely column:
"...what happens when we trade away our ability to make an individual decision on something that exclusively affects how we live our own life and does not affect others?  The result is that we have less autonomy than we did before we sealed that particular deal.  As a consequence, a bit of our self-determination – something our society holds in such great esteem – flies out the window.  What’s worse is that every time we roll over and allow yet another law or regulation to in some way curtail our personal decision-making, we’re all that more willing to let it happen again and again..."
     "
Think about it this way.  Although they make their employees’ lives a living hell, bosses who micromanage really do believe that they can derive outstanding results and minimal risk.  Hmmm…see a pattern here?  Do we actually believe that we can make a given activity completely safe by means of micro-legislation?
Increasingly, our politicians are passing laws championed by special interest groups who seek to remove all risk to the planet and its people."
